See privacy policy.An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee is in the wind after escaping federal custody at JFK Airport on Tuesday night and hopping into a yellow cab.Mohamadou Lamine Mbacke, 31, was being deported on a prior weapons arrest and was being transferred to Senegal when he reportedly ran away from the ICE agents. The incident took place at Gate B23 in Terminal 4 while Mbacke was supposed to be making a connecting flight from Detroit (DTW) to Senegal. Officials say that during a layover, ICE agents removed Mbacke’s handcuffs at the airport’s security screening checkpoint when suddenly he ran away. Surveillance video shows him then leaving the airport in a New York City taxi.ICE says Mbacke entered the country lawfully in 2005 before violating the terms of his status. He was ordered deported in September 2015 by an immigration judge. Mbacke has previous criminal convictions for multiple weapons and firearms offenses.
