A man aboard an American Airlines flight was subdued by passengers and crew after reportedly trying to make his way to the front of the plane on Friday. Anil Tuvanc Uskanli was arrested upon landing at Honolulu and will likely face charges according to FBI agent Paul Delacourt.American Airlines flight 31 took off from Los Angeles airport at 9:10am PST with 181 passengers and six crew members. About halfway through the flight, Uskanli stood up with a blanket over his head, clutched a laptop towards his chest, and made his way up the aisle towards the cockpit while mumbling. He was blocked by a beverage cart near the first class cabin. A flight attendant told Uskanli to go back to his seat but he did not comply. At that point other passengers and the flight attendant moved Uskanli back towards his seat; he did not resist their actions. Once back he was reportedly duct taped to his chair, according to passenger Lee Lorenzen.Uskanli was restrained for the rest of the flight and there was no significant signs of struggle or violence with the plane landing in Honolulu at 2:35pm PST. Uskanli was then arrested and escorted off the flight by law enforcement (see video below):All passengers and crew were deemed safe and unharmed, and flight operations are back to normal.According to Flight Aware, the journey itself did not seem to to be interrupted, and the flight actually landed early 16 minutes early. According to a statement from the LAPD, Uskanli had tried “going through a door from the Terminal 5 concourse that led out onto the airfield ramp.” He had reportedly been drinking but did not meet the criteria to be considered drunk in public. He was then “arrested for misdemeanor trespassing, cited, given a pending court date and released from custody.“The FBI is still investigating the incident and said that there were no other threats to other aircraft and that no explosives were found aboard the plane.H/T: CNN
