Drunk Airline Passenger Tries To Enter Cockpit To Charge His Phone

See privacy policy.A drunk IndiGo Airlines passenger whose phone apparently needed to be charged attempted to enter the plane’s cockpit to plug in the device on Monday.Authorities say the odd incident occurred before the aircraft took off for Kolkata (CCU), allowing the flight crew to escort the drunk man off the flight and to the police station for questioning. The unidentified man was later released by law enforcement.“He was drunk and wanted to charge his mobile phone," police told Indian newspaper The Hindu. “So he moved towards the cockpit. Police did not find any offence against him to charge a case.”The airline called the incident a “security violation,” stating to The Hindu that the flight’s captain was “following standard operating procedures” when he offloaded the 35-year-old man from the flight from Mumbai (BOM) to Kolkata.It isn’t clear if the cockpit door was open before takeoff or had been shut in preparation for the flight’s departure. Regulations from the International Civil Aviation Organization prohibit any passenger from entering the cockpit of commercial aircraft. From their flight stations, pilots can also lock and unlock the cockpit door, which according to ICAO guidelines, should be locked upon disembarkation and have a way for pilots to monitor anyone requesting access to the flight deck.
