Airlines around the world launch and announce dozens of new flight routes and service changes every month. The inaugural was originally supposed to happen back in April of this year, but as we say, better late than never! The LAX-MAD flight is operated four times per week on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while the JFK-MAD flight runs thrice-weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On July 2, LATAM launched a nonstop route from Boston (BOS) to São Paulo (GRU), operating four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays aboard the carrier’s Boeing 767 aircraft. Philippine Airlines’ 8,520-mile, 16-hour long-haul from New York (JFK) to Manila (MNL) is expected to launch on October 30 and will be operated by the carrier’s 777-300ER five times per week. The airline will also be adding a daily nonstop route between Chicago (ORD) and San José, Costa Rica (SJO), early next year. Service is set to resume on March 31, 2019, and will initially operate on a thrice-weekly basis until July 1, 2019, when it will increase to four times weekly service, all on the carrier’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
