American Express is offering targeted cardholders a $5 statement credit for downloading its iPhone or Android Amex Mobile app and logging into it for the first time from their smartphone by December 31, 2014.Download and log into the Amex Mobile app by 12/31 to get a $5 statement credit.To get the $5 statement credit, you must be a first-time user of the app, you must not have logged into it before December 7, 2014, and you must use it on your smartphone, not on a tablet. If you are eligible, you will have received a targeted email, and only the recipient who is named in the email is eligible. Each cardholder can earn the bonus once, but only the primary cardholders are eligible (not additional cardholders).While $5 is not a huge amount, for simply taking a minute to download an app and open it on your smartphone, that’s a pretty good deal.Amex OffersEven if you are not targeted to participate in this promo but are an Amex cardholder, remember to check your Amex Offers periodically.You can find your Amex offers by logging into you Amex account online or by registering your card via social media here. Here are a couple that I found when logged into my account:As you can see, there are some decent ones here like getting $5 back for spending $10 or more at FedEx, getting $30 off a $150 Bloomingdale’s purchase, and getting a $5 statement credit when you spend $30 or more at Shell, or $5 or more at McDonald’s (mall food court!). And there were about 20 more offers below this from places like Walmart, Columbia and more.
