Now through September 30, 2013, Gogo Inflight WiFi has teamed up with American Airlines to offer flyers a free in-flight movie on select American Airlines flights including transcontinental flights between Los Angeles to New York’s John F. Kennedy. You can choose your free inflight movie by entering promo code FREESHOW at check-out.Receive a complimentary in-flight movie. The free movie code is meant to promote Gogo’s new service which allows passengers to stream movies directly from Gogo while in-flight (and you can actually finish the movie on the ground if you don’t watch the whole thing on your flight).Prices start at 99 cents for TV shows, and $3.99 for full length films. The great thing is you don’t need to buy one of Gogo’s WiFi access plans to be able to take advantage of this, you can simply purchase the TV or movie rental.I know some of their one-day passes are over $15, so instead of paying for a one day pass, I would consider watching a movie for only $3.99. Granted, you wouldn’t be able to access the internet to check your email or Facebook, but if you’re purely looking for in-flight entertainment, then this is something to consider. If you don’t finish, you can stream on the ground as well. One of the new perks with this service is that you’ll have the option to finish the movie on the ground. So if you purchased a film onboard, and then decide after about 30 minutes you want to get some sleep, you would have the option to watch the rest of it when you get to your destination. The catch is you must watch the rest of the movie within 24 hours, like an iTunes rental, but still it’s a nice option. You can learn more about Gogo’s Entertainment On Demand options on their Facebook Page. Will you be planning to rent movies from Gogo now, or will you just stick to accessing the internet at 35,000 feet?[card card-name=‘Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® MasterCard®’ card-id=‘22144516’ type=‘javascript’ bullet-id=‘1’]Sign up for our daily newsletterEmail addressSign upI would like to subscribe to The Points Guy newsletters and special email promotions.
