Hyatt just announced their fall promotion and depending on the number of nights you stay, you earn an extra 1,000-1,857 extra points per night starting at the 5 night threshold. So if you completed all 35 nights, you’d earn a total of 78,000 bonus Gold Passport points.The registration page doesn’t appear to be live yet, but you can call 1-800-228-3360 starting August 15. It’s similar to some of their recent promotions including one last year where where you would have to stay 5 nights to earn the first bonus of 10,000 Hyatt points and then you would earn 5,000 bonus points every 2 nights you stayed beyond that. You could earn a maximum of 60,000 points on 25 nights - so it would have required a full 10 nights less than with this promotion, and you’d only be missing out on 5,000 points. The requirements for this one seem a lot more stringent, especially because those bonuses only come along at 5-night intervals, so you really have to plan your stays carefully.Earlier this year Hyatt had its Stay More, Earn More promotion where you could earn up to 20,000 Bonus points (and an additional 5,000 if you were a credit card holder) based on cumulative stays - the more stays you had, the bigger the individual bonuses you earned, though again 20,000 was the cap.What happened to the good old days of Hyatt’s “Faster Free Nights” promotions that would award 1 free night at any Hyatt for every two paid stays. Now that was some great value.While this promotion doesn’t have me jumping for joy, I definitely think it’s doable to rack up a fair amount of bonus points through it, and it’s nice to see Hyatt keeping the bonus-earning formula simple, as opposed to the multitude of options Starwood Preferred Guest Members had to sort through with the SPG Nice Choice promotion this summer. I also think the 20% bonus for Chase Hyatt Visa cardholders is a small ray of light, and another feature of the card that will keep it in my wallet for some time to come - as does the fact that I get an additional 3 Hyatt points per dollar spent at Hyatt.I’m only at 4 stays/9 nights for the year so I’ve got to kick it up a notch if I want to hit 25 stays to retain Diamond. I really wish Hyatt would create a Cash & Points program and allow award stays to be counted towards elite status, like Starwood does. Or better yet- innovate and come up with something truly unique to excite me a little bit. These promos, especially this summer’s airline mile promo, just aren’t cutting it for me.Will you stay at Hyatt more this fall as a result of this promotion?
