As I’ve written about a couple times, there have been a lot of sub-$500 fares to Hawaii recently. I’ve seen Delta “attacking” a lot of Continental/United hubs and vice versa. Today it seems that Continental/ United has loaded a huge availability of rock bottom fares to multiple Hawaiian islands - I’m seeing total roundtrip (including taxes) prices from: $345 from San Francisco, $499 from New York (even on their Newark-Honolulu nonstop), $429 from Los Angeles, and many more from other cities....

Back in early 2016, American Airlines announced an ambitious $200 million lounge overhaul program. Now, the first Flagship Lounge has opened in New York (JFK), with more scheduled to open in Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami (MIA) by the end of 2017.However, these renovations haven’t been easy. As passengers continue to fly in and out of these airports, American Airlines has attempted to do construction in a piecemeal manner —some parts remained open to guests while others were closed entirely....

Back in April, Marriott detailed its new combined loyalty program, which came along with a slew of changes when it launched this weekend. One much-welcome change, as confirmed by Marriott at the time, would be an expansion of Points Advance to SPG properties. Delta was the first US legacy carrier to shift to a revenue based frequent flyer program back in 2015, including the introduction (and then increase) of spending thresholds for elite status. The airline followed that by eliminating round-the-world awards and instituting major award-chart devaluations. Then even further devaluations, plus more devaluations and price hikes. All of this was partly enabled by its 2015 decision to stop publishing award charts altogether.Over the course of a couple years, it has became more complex and more expensive than ever to book Delta awards....

Careful where you selfie – it could be dangerous.In a recent study conducted by the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, results yielded a surprising increase in the amount of selfie-related deaths. Now, as a safety regulation, researchers are calling for “no-selfie zones” in certain parts of tourist attractions.According to the study, approximately 259 people have died from Oct. 2011 to Nov. 2017 while taking selfies, a majority of fatalities occurring with males in their twenties....

The last long weekend of the summer, Labor Day weekend (Aug. 31 to Sept. 3) is rapidly approaching — and it’s projected to be one of the busiest ever, with a record-breaking 16.5 million people likely to fly away, according to Airlines for America.This probably has something to do with the fact that this Labor Day weekend is also expected to be one of the most affordable in years.
