Targeted Us Airways 100 Buy Miles Promotion Until October 31 2012

Earlier today US Airways announced an amazing 100% bonus on sharing miles that equates to purchasing miles at roughly 1.1 cents a piece.I just received a targeted email offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles until October 31, 2012. Normally miles cost 3.5 cents a piece plus tax, but with this promo they come out to just about 1.9 cents each, which isn’t as great as the share miles promo, but not a horrible option for those people who want to buy a small amount of miles so they can leverage the share miles promo- since you need existing miles to take advantage of that bonus....

The Bloomberg Global Health Index recently ranked the world’s healthiest (and unhealthiest) countries based on several factors including life expectancy, health risks (ie. tobacco use and high blood pressure), availability of clean water, malnutrition and causes of death. Coming in at the top spot with a health grade of 93.11 out of 100 is Italy, where babies born today can expect to live well into their 80s.Perhaps it’s taking in the country’s beautiful coastlines or exploring its plentiful historic sites that keep the Italian brain and body feeling young....

It’s such an incredible feeling to know your upgrade has cleared, especially on a long flight — it’s quite another to have it taken away as you approach your seat and to be denied outright by the airline that gave it to you. TPG reached out to me yesterday after reading about the incident on my blog and asked me to share my experience with you.United Giveth and United Taketh AwayYesterday morning, I was flying from Newark (EWR) to San Francisco (SFO) on United....

We Re Going Back To Ghana

The kids there have really embraced the program; more than 500 students will come to our PeaceJam conference this year — it’s incredibly inspiring to see the response. So I’m extremely excited that we’ll be returning to Accra next week for the annual conference — it’s my third time going. Why A Movable Wall Is An Award Winner For Aircraft Cabin Design

Airlines are struggling with what to do with the bulkhead wall between first class and economy. It’s nice to have a hard barrier between the cabins. No one in economy enjoys seeing passengers in front being treated better. And first class is more enjoyable when you don’t have to hear the “riffraff” in the back. However, installing a divider between the cabins takes up a lot of valuable cabin space that could be used to give passengers more legroom, or — more realistically — add more seats to the cabin....

Video Sunday Reader Question How Can Senior Citizens Maximize Points To Save Money On Travel

This week’s reader question comes from the only TPG reader who has never used the internet- my grandmother. I wrote yesterday how I used some SkyMiles to take a last minute trip to visit her and I’ve slowly but surely explained to her what I do since she had never heard of the word “blogger” before. When I told her that I had to go film this week’s video blog post, she asked if I’d answer her question, and once you see her you’ll realize you could never say no to her!...
