In general, buying and transferring miles doesn’t make much sense, but can in certain situations (like Delta’s current 100% transfer bonus) it can....

Qantas launched one of the longest flights in the world last March, and it wants to continue the trend of connecting cities far across the globe.Qantas plans on placing an order for aircraft that will be able to facilitate Qantas’ goal of ultra-long-range flights, calling the effort “Project Sunrise.” The airline’s CEO told reporters that it would need aircraft that can fly nonstop with a full payload from Sydney to New York or London....

As you may have gathered from all the recent flight deals, airlines have plenty of open seats to fill on winter flights to Europe. While it’s certainly a bit chillier than during peak season, winter can be a great time to cross the pond as well.To help keep planes full while also reducing the number of outstanding miles, airlines often offer discounted award flights — American has several off-peak periods when awards cost just 40,000 miles round-trip (though there will be fewer after March 22), and United ran its own limited-time Europe award sale, with flights priced at 45,000 miles round-trip....

American travelers should have an easier time figuring out which countries are safe to visit since the State Department switched over to a color-coded system that labels the nations of the world from least to most dangerous.“We wanted to make it clear what our advice was and improve our communication with US citizens,” State Department spokesman Kevin Brosnahan told the Washington Post.Countries will be categorized from Level 1, represented by blue, for those places US travelers have least reason to be concerned traveling in, to Level 4, with a red theme, which the US government will strongly advise travelers not to visit at all....
