Hotels With Discounted Hurricane Harvey Evacuation Rates

Disasters bring out the best and worst in individuals and businesses, and I’m sure the Texas coast’s tussle with Hurricane Harvey this weekend will be no exception. Many, like us, have had to cancel planned travel due to the storm, so some hotels that thought they would be playing host to a crop of late summer travelers instead probably saw some of those leisure travelers cancel their plans as the storm drew near....

Boeing’s stock is sliding yet again due to fears of a trade war, this time because China hit the US with new tariffs that in part target the American aircraft manufacturing industry. The US airplane manufacturer’s shares fell by more than 4% as trading opened on Wednesday, and are down about 2% at 2pm New York time, following the announcement that China was slapping $50 billion worth of tariffs on 106 US goods, including “aircraft and other aircraft with an empty weight of more than 15,000 kg but not exceeding 45,000 kg [about 16....

The New York-based carrier announced a 10-year purchase agreement with SG Preston to buy renewable jet fuel that’s made from bio-based feedstocks, such as plant matter, that don’t compete with food production....

Netflix Is Better Than Porn In The Hotel Business At Least

There comes a point in many a person’s hotel stay where, with Wi-Fi that doesn’t allow for streaming and nothing interesting to watch on the television’s limited channel selection, you click the remote and see what sort of premium movies they’ve got. After a few minutes of browsing — and chuckling over the titles of the adult options (The Sopornos?) — you switch back to Bravo’s latest Real Housewives of Wherever marathon....

Sunday Reader Email Question Should I Rollover Or Go For Higher Status On Delta

TPG reader Jay asks:“I currently have 70,000 MQMs on Delta for the year, and with three known upcoming flights, I will cross over the 75,000 MQM mark reaching Platinum status for the first time ever. Beyond the three upcoming flights, I am not yet sure if I will have any additional ones before December 31. Is it more advantageous to cross over the 75,000 MQMs, reaching Platinum Medallion Status, or is it better to stay under the 75,000 mark, which would then result in 24,000+ MQMs rolling over in my account on January 1, 2012?...

These Hotels Want To Revolutionize How You Put On Sunscreen

Everyone would agree that applying sunscreen is one of the most tedious tasks we face when on vacation, aside from waiting in airport lines, making it through monotonously long flights, retrieving endlessly-delayed luggage, searching for transportation in strange cities and getting up at the crack of dawn to make sure you snag one of the coveted spots by the pool. Not only that, but we often miss important parts of their bodies when doing so....
