Update 4/27/17: This flight is now available to book, but be prepared for sky-high fares. The inaugural is scheduled for March 24, 2018 (departing Perth), but the first date we’re seeing business-class availability is March 25. A round-trip economy fare on the inaugural (the only class currently open) will run you a whopping $3,210 AUD (about $2,400). Currently, the lowest business-class fares we’re seeing on this new nonstop total $9,723 AUD (about $7,250)....

Since its founding in the 1950s, Lufthansa has been one of the world’s more consistent airlines when it comes to graphics and corporate identity. After changing to its current livery in the 1960s — blue tail with yellow circle, blue stylized crane in the circle, blue cheatline down a largely white fuselage — the German flag carrier has remained faithful to the model. Amazingly, it’ll be the “first full-length runway built in southeast England since World War II”. And, it has its share of champions and fierce opponents....

On Friday, a Boeing 737-200 crashed into a yucca field shortly after takeoff from Jose Marti International Airport (HAV) in Havana, Cuba, killing 110 passengers and crew. The Cubana de Aviación flight was operated by Aerolineas Damojh, also known as Global Air. Now, new reports are raising serious safety concerns about the airline.The aircraft was one of three aging Boeing 737s in Global Air’s fleet. According to AirFleets.net, the 39-year old Boeing 737-200 was the oldest aircraft operated by the charter airline....

Fare Deal Alert just reported on some decently low fares on a combination of Delta, Air France and/or KLM, and on United/Aegean from Houston IAH to Athens ATH roundtrip via a variety of airports including Athens, Paris and Amsterdam, with some airfares coming in as low as $682 roundtrip.It looks like these fares are good from January 19 through the end of February according to what I could find on the ITA Matrix:You can use the flexible search option to see a calendar of dates with low fares, as well as what stays of various lengths would cost - for instance anywhere from 3-8 nights....

Today a nice Mommy Points reader tweeted me a link that discounted Disney World tickets were available via the Orlando local Travelzoo site (thanks @TravelClt!). Every now and then I come across absolute gems on Travelzoo, so that is a site that I think is worth a look when you have plans to visit a specific city. Hawaiian Airlines announced on Tuesday that it’s selected the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner as the latest addition to its fleet. As announced by Hawaiian and Boeing, the Honolulu-based airline intends to purchase 10 of the 789 aircraft, an order valued at $2.82 billion at list prices. The carrier also has purchased rights for 10 additional 787s.The carrier’s announcement to opt for the Dreamliner allows it to take advantage of the aircraft’s superior fuel efficiency and range, and ultimately a more comfortable experience for passengers....
