Passenger aircraft cabins have gone from having exclusively forward-facing seats arranged in a standard ‘window-middle-aisle’ arrangement to featuring premium classes with private, rear-facing suites, showers, onboard bars and more. However, a special team within Airbus known as A³ is working on taking the onboard experience even farther.A³ is a Silicon Valley-based Airbus company that focuses on innovation and reimagining the way we fly. One particularly interesting project the team is working on is called ‘Transpose,’ and it could radically change what passengers should expect on a commercial aircraft....

The airline’s planning to add 100 of Boeing’s extended-length 737s, too, the MAX 10, with deliveries expected to begin in 2020....

There are some great uses for British Airways Avios (BA’s mileage currency) when it comes to partner reward flights. I’ve used 4,500 Avios to hop between Hong Kong (HKG) and Taipei (TPE) on Cathay Pacific, and got over 12 cents per Avios in value on Iberia premium economy. Recently, a TPG reader got almost nine cents per Avios in value on American Airlines flights. And TPG’s Richard Kerr has scored over 10 cents of value for flights in the Caribbean....

Yesterday, we noticed that Virgin Atlantic was pulled from American Express’ list of Membership Rewards transfer partners.The airline has been making some drastic moves recently. Update 5/16/17: Condor award redemptions are now live! While we haven’t been able to track down many business-class awards, there’s a fair amount of economy and premium economy space open. Note, however, that Condor’s economy fares tend to be quite reasonable, so be sure to price out a revenue ticket before booking with miles.Condor awards are priced at 25,000 miles each way in economy, 45,000 in premium economy and 55,000 in business class....

Although it’s been more than two weeks since the #Bumpgate incident involving Dr. David Dao on United Airlines Flight 3411, few details outside of the original video have been released. We know that the airport security officers who dragged Dao out of his seat and down the aisle were suspended, but few other details about what led up to the gruesome situation weren’t previously available.However, The Associated Press obtained the officer’s report of the incident from the Chicago Department of Aviation through a Freedom of Information Act request....

The UK government finally approved a controversial proposal for a third runway at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) Tuesday morning.Lawmakers say Heathrow’s third runway will help increase domestic regional connectivity. Up to 15% of the new runway’s capacity would be earmarked for domestic connections. More competition among regional routes would mean more choices and hopefully better prices for travelers, officials said. UK Prime Minister Theresa May and her cabinet approved the proposal in a meeting on Tuesday....

Hi Fly’s Airbus A380 (registration 9H-MIP) may very well be the most famous A380 in the skies. Just the sixth A380 to roll off of the manufacturing line and third to be delivered to a customer, the superjumbo found fame after being returned to its owner after a decade of service leased to Singapore Airlines. The financing company turned found a home for the A380 with wet lessor Hi Fly, making this A380 the first ever to be wet leased....

It was an electric night some years back in Paris and the Pet Shop Boys were late. There I was waiting for more than an hour in a sea of frustrated French fans at the Grand Rex theater wondering, “What have I done to deserve this?” Suddenly the boys sprung on to the stage: “So sorry Paris! IAG — the parent company of British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling — launched a low-cost airline called LEVEL in June 2017 with service between Barcelona (BCN) and Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland (OAK), Buenos Aires (EZE) and Punta Cana (PUJ). Now, the airline says it’s doubling its routes — it tweeted on Tuesday to announce new service to/from Paris, but with scant details either in the tweet or on the LEVEL site....

Norwegian Air is continuing its expansion across the Atlantic Ocean, becoming an even larger player in the US travel market. In 2015, the airline announced it was adding nonstop service from the Northeast (Baltimore [BWI], Boston [BOS] and New York [JFK]) to the Caribbean (Guadeloupe Islands [PTP] and Martinique [FDF]) — and starting one-way tickets were really cheap! Then, later last year, the airline made an exciting announcement that caught the ears of most US travelers in that it would begin offering $69 flights from the US to Europe as soon as 2017....

Since Singapore Airlines unveiled its stunning new first- and business-class products on its latest Airbus A380s, one of the questions has been what routes will it serve. After launching on the Singapore (SIN) to Sydney (SYD) route in December 2017, the airline has remained relatively quiet about its future plans for the aircraft. On Monday, however, the carrier broke its silence, announcing that it’s set to offer the new A380 on routes to London (LHR) and Hong Kong (HKG)....
