The dream of a flying car is coming closer to reality after Kitty Hawk unveiled a working prototype of its vehicle, dubbed the Flyer, on Monday.The Silicon Valley based startup, backed by Google Co-Founder Larry Page, demonstrated its Kitty Hawk Flyer in a video that shows the vehicle flying above above Clear Lake, California.The single-person aircraft is powered by electricity. It falls under the FAA classification of “ultra-light” aircraft which means you don’t need a regular pilot’s license to operate one....

Following up on the post a couple weeks ago about Amex sending out 1099s for prizes from their Gift Chain promotion including duplicate ShopRunner memberships, our TPG intern Ryan came across a FlyerTalk thread that at least gives new hope to savvy consumers who took advantage of the promotion that they might not be on the hook for unused prizes.Amex will be issuing revised 1099s to customers who did not redeem their ShopRunner memberships and/or Next Purchase statement credits, and sent out the following letter to participants in the Gift Chain promo:“Dear Cardmember,We are writing to let you know we are reissuing a 1099 form to you for the value of the gifts you received through the American Express Gift Chain promotion....

If you miss the AAdvantage program’s old mileage-based earning structure, there’s still a workaround: AA Special Fares. By booking your flights with points through a travel portal, you’ll get a percentage of the miles you fly as award miles rather than based on the amount you paid for your ticket. As we confirmed in November, you can still get credit based on the Special Fares even if you only pay for part of your flight with points....

Until last week, the Airbus A220 did not exist. Well, not as the A220, at least — as part of a partnership with Bombardier, the Canadian manufacturer’s former CS100 and CS300 became the Airbus A220-100 and A220-300, respectively.The larger -300 model made its airshow debut at Farnborough this week, with attendees getting a chance to peek inside. A US man flying on All Nippon Airways from Chicago (ORD) to Tokyo (NRT) on Friday was arrested for allegedly peeing on another passenger on the 13-hour flight.Officials told Japanese media that the 24-year-old man drank four glasses of champagne and a sake on board the plane, and after imbibing, he got up and urinated on a 50-year-old Japanese passenger sitting two rows behind him. The Japanese passenger told law enforcement that he did not previously know the drunk American passenger....

There’s soon to be a new national flag carrier in Africa. This time in the nation of Chad.The launch of Chadian Airlines — jointly owned by Ethiopian Airlines and Chad’s government — was finalized and announced by Ethiopian. Ethiopian holds a 49% stake in the venture while the government of Chad holds 51%.The new airline is set to start operating flights on October 1, 2018, launching on an extremely quick turnaround....

Update: It appears that the $10 credit is no longer available.Starbucks’ Rewards program isn’t known to be the most rewarding loyalty program. A rough storm turned a bumpy Southwest flight into a dangerous situation on Saturday afternoon.Southwest Flight 3461 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL) to New Orleans (MSY) was forced to make an emergency landing in Panama City, Florida (ECP) after attempting to land at MSY in severe weather.Meteorologists had been predicting severe weather on Saturday in New Orleans for days, but the Southwest pilot told passengers on the plane’s PA system that he thought they could beat the storm and land before it was an issue, Lauren Bale, a passenger on the flight, told TPG....
