Emirates Group announced a significant boost in profits in its yearly earnings report released Wednesday.The Dubai-based airline group’s net income jumped to $1.1 billion, a 67% increase in the 12 calendar months that ended March 31. Sales were also up 8.1%.The airline group was able to bolster its bottom line partly in thanks to higher oil prices in the Gulf region, Emirates said in its report. Even though higher oil prices meant higher operating costs for the carrier, “it also stoked the embers of economic recovery which contributed to better seat load factors and a modest climb in yields,” its financial report said....

We’ve known for a long time now that Singapore Airlines was planning on introducing a new Suites product on its new Airbus A380s that it’s going to begin flying between Singapore (SIN) and Sydney (SYD) in December.On Thursday, November 2, the airline’s CEO, Goh Choon Phong, officially unveiled the new Suites and business-class products that will debut on the new A380, as well as improvements to its premium economy and economy products....

You don’t often see big new member bonuses from hotels - usually they’ll throw you a couple thousand points or a discount code - but Marriott is offering a new member bonus of a free night at a Category 1-5 property for folks who sign up and complete two stays within 120 days of the end of the month in which they sign up. So if you signed up in January, you’d pretty much have until the end of May to complete your two stays and earn the free night....

Whenever I’m asked what my favorite destination is, it’s hard to choose because everywhere is so different. Workers at New York City area airports are on the brink of earning one of the highest minimum wages in the country.Years of demonstrating for higher wages are about to pay off for the 40,000 airport workers as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the agency that runs the city’s airports, is expected to recommend a wage increase to $19 per hour.
