The 134,000-ton ship was leaving the Sicilian port of Messina last Sunday when its propellers created waves so powerful that pontoons were ripped from their moorings, dragging several boats underwater. No one was hurt in the incident, and authorities are investigating why the cruise ship came so close to the marina. The cruise liner, Vista, is Carnival’s newest and largest vessel in its Miami-based fleet. The Vista is 1,062 feet long, carries almost 4,000 passengers, features a full IMAX movie theatre, a water park and an aerial cycling track.
