Though most of us (I hope) are lounging around this Labor Day, hitting the beach, firing up the barbecue or just hanging out with friends and family, the hard-working people in the travel industry don’t get a day off. So on this holiday that’s meant to recognize the workers of America, take some time to thank the people that get you where you need to go safely and on time. There are plenty of ways to show your appreciation.Write A Letter/Email/TweetThough most people just contact airlines and hotels when something goes wrong, take a moment to recognize when something goes right - an airline employee goes the extra mile for you (so to speak) or a hotel employee does something to make your stay memorable - and send an email or letter to the company singling out that employee for their stellar service. Here is a list of airline and hotel contact forms.US AIRLINESAlaska AirlinesEmail FormTwitter: @AlaskaAirAmerican AirlinesEmail FormTwitter: @AmericanAirDeltaEmail FormTwitter: @deltaassistJetBlueEmail FormTwitter: @JetBlueSign up for our daily newsletterEmail addressSign upI would like to subscribe to The Points Guy newsletters and special email promotions. For instance, Starwood gives its Platinum and Gold members Thank You certificates to hand out to hotel employees who have done exceptional work and Delta gives its Diamond and Platinum Medallions “Job Well Done” to recognize outstanding customer service. Obviously compliments coming in from any passenger/guest are important, but if you’re an elite member of an airline or hotel loyalty program, think about the extra weight your word will carry and be sure to recognize extraordinary customer service when you come across it.Be NiceMany people working in the travel industry work long hours in high-pressure situations, and they rarely get a kind word of thanks. So one of the simplest yet most effective ways of showing your appreciation is just to be nice and say thanks from time to time. A smile can go a really long way, especially if someone helps you out. Be courteous, be quick, and be nice. Advice for Labor Day and for life![card card-name=‘Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card – Bonus Point Offer’ card-id=‘22145660’ type=‘javascript’ bullet-id=‘1’]
